This post is all about the lighting we did for University orthopedics annual holiday party at Gillette Stadium.
The “Ask”
After servicing their 2023 holiday party with just our 3ft marquee letters “UOI”, the client reached out to us to ask if we could provide the same services along with uplighting and two photo booths for their upcoming 2024 holiday party. Of course our answer was yes. The reason they reached out to us for these services is because of our attention to detail. In 2023 when booking their holiday party, the client was concerned with the brightness of the marquee letters. To help with this, we offered to provide a dimmer, which worked perfectly for their event.
Event Design
In addition to the Photo Booths, Marquee letters, and uplighting… The client also asked if we could provide snowflake logo projections on the walls. We offered a number of different methods to provide this, and the client asked us to suggest what the tech’s recommendation was. This allowed us some creative flexibility to design a beautiful display for the snowflakes. Additionally, the client had mentioned that the ones used in past years from another company where blurry and out of focus, so we had to fix that as well. We decided to incorporate both a textured glass gobo on a moving light (times two) and two projected snowflake images, allowing for super crisp graphics of the snowflakes, as seen below.
Our moving lights were able to be moved down to the dance floor without physically being moved, for the dancing reception portion, and allowed us to add additional lighting for that area with unparalleled versatility.
Up Lighting
Interestingly we were not aware that the band was also going to be providing uplighting (nor was the client). However, since the room was so large, we were able to use our uplighting around the rest of the room. The client initially chose alternating colors for the lights, but after seeing the bands colors, we decided to use one color to make sure nothing clashed, looking at the photo above, I’m sure you can’t even tell that there were different uplights used.
Photo Booths
Whenever we are asked to do two photo booths, we usually ask if there is going to be a lot of guests, or if there is some reason they are looking for two? While they are usually correct that they need two booths, it’s important to know why so we can make recommendations to the client about the right options for them. For example, events that have a high volume of people, may be able to use a second printer, but a single photo booth (printing can take time depending on how many people are in the photo). Marquee Letters
For this event we again provided the 3ft marquee letter signs, but for next year’s holiday party (which has already been booked), we will be providing our 4ft Letters UOI instead.
