From Sender Land to Rhode Island Country Club, The “Big Rig” makes a huge statement for event lighting. In a recent event at Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington, we provided all the lighting for their end of summer event for their members. This consisted of a modified big rig, uplighting, and marquee letters.
What does the light show consist of?
This specific light show consisted of a disco ball (or mirrorball) for the centerpiece with 6 moving head lights positioned across a truss bar, 4 glow tube lights (two mounted to the truss), 2 spreader bars with a total of 4 LED pars for spreader lighting, and two large LED pars to wash the band! In addition the full room was up-lit with battery powered wireless lights.
What can the Big Rig do besides party lighting?
The big rig is capable of many different light “scenes” and shows, it can be adapted with different lights and additional fixtures and decorative items such as a disco ball, co2 jets, greenery and more can be added. For this event, we had a scene programmed to use the hybrid moving head lights as spot lights for key food stations around the room (see below).

What challenges did you face?
The rig itself can be challenging to set up because all of the lights are controlled by DMX512 protocol, which requires proper channel assignment, and building scenes. However because we use a ADJ WMX1 lighting controller, some of the latest control technology, we can save shows which helps to make set up faster. In this case on this event, we were challenged but the dance floor which we needed to set up on and around, to be installed, thankfully we left plenty of set up time so it wasn’t a big issue.
How much does this set up cost?
We have to give a general disclaimer that production work is generally highly customized and can vary in price. This set up ranges in price, stand alone, from $2,500- $3,500, if you would like to learn more about our production services at our production page or contact us to get pricing.
